    • The Process - Handtufted

    Handtufted Rugs

     

    Our Handtufted Rugs are made on a loom, with a skilled weaver punching strands of organic wool or cotton into an organic cotton canvas. Once the "tufting" is complete, a secondary backing of organic cotton is affixed to the rug, with a non toxic glue.

    Handtufted rugs are available in 100% organic cotton or 100% organic wool.

     

    What is an ORGANIC RUG?

     

    Organic Weave uses only non toxic materials in the production of our rugs. 

    Our production steps:

    • Source raw materials from traceable, certified organic producers
    • Clean or scour raw materials using biodegradable cleansing agents
    • Use water in a sustainable way throughout processing
    • Use no synthetic agents or oils in our spinning process
    • Dye our yarn using Global Organic Textile Standard approved dye stuffs
    • Finish our rugs with no harmful chemicals or detergents
